How to Announce a Price Increase to Customers
A good announcement begins with a definite business decision.
Set policy before writing
Determine the new rate, effective date, booking exceptions and which customers are affected.
Use plain language
Say 'From [date], [service] costs [amount]' and explain what remains included.
Prepare responses
Answer reasonable questions consistently, without promising discounts you cannot maintain.
Measure results
Compare customer counts, average order value, total revenue and margins with equivalent periods.
An announcement timeline
First finalise the new rate and policy. Next update booking and billing systems, notify affected customers, and make support responses available. Finally monitor the first billing periods under the new price.
Sample public announcement
Starting [date], the price for [service] will be [new rate] per [unit]. Bookings made before that date will be treated under [policy]. We welcome questions through [channel].
